In this work, the sociocultural determinants of eating behavior characteristic of societies of different historical periods are considered. The dominant philosophical ideas and cultural and historical epochal features are analyzed. Causes of dominant eating behavior trends, value system and worldview attitudes conditioning a special attitude of an individual to eating behavior have been determined. Contradictory tendencies of ideas about the organization of nutrition in modern society due to different attitudinal models were revealed. The necessity to give consideration to the sociocultural context in the practice of maintaining public health, including the formation of value attitudes towards a healthy lifestyle and proper nutrition, is proved.
