The authors examine the game as a reflexive way of developing critical thinking. To illustrate the judgments, materials from interactive training of police officers during the period of advanced training were used. Attention is focused on the fact that critical thinking helps to look at a problem from different angles, take into account unforeseen situations and, when choosing a solution, choose the safest option. The functions of a business game in the formation of professional ideas are outlined, in particular, cognitive (play carrying new information) and regulatory (play correcting the emotional and volitional stability of participants in operational work). It has been concluded that a business game, once correctly played, is gradually fixed as a value concept in the student's memory and can be reproduced in new professional circumstances.
