In this work, the philosophical study of the mechanism of formation of subjectivity in the context of personal self-development is presented. The tendency of the development of society and culture in the direction from impersonal tradition to personal creativity is revealed. The emphasis is placed on the close connection of the concepts of subjectivity and Self. The concept of Self is analyzed in the context of the philosophy of C. G. Jung, M. Heidegger, E. Fromm, P. Cheney, as well as representatives of postmodernism. The various meanings of the concept of “Self” are analyzed. It has been concluded that the self-development of a personality is the formation of its subjectivity.
