The authors consider the internal aspect of personality self-development that determines its internal evolutionary potential, — life-purpose values. The terminological analysis of the conceptual apparatus of personality’s life-purpose values is performed, with special attention to the essence of self and success, which provide the wholeness of the individual. The significance of the motivational sphere of personality in the philosophy of self-development is substantiated. The conclusion has been made about the co-evolutionary nature of the individual development and the sociocultural system. It is emphasized that in the self-development of personality as a conscious management the leading role is played not by the factors of the external environment, but specifically by internal factors.
