In this work, it is noted that conciliarity is an element of the “Russian idea” and represents the spiritual unity of people, ideally, of all mankind. The genesis of the concept of “conciliarity” is traced. The lack of unity in views on conciliarity on the part of Slavophiles and Westerners is noted. Historical and philosophical analysis has shown that the Slavophiles emphasized the exclusivity and “specialness” of the Russian way, and unity, in their opinion, should have occurred on the basis of universal church formation in the Russian Orthodox Church; Westerners declared the unification of people on the basis of the active, voluntary, independent aspiration of each person as a being with free will, to the public good, to social justice. The author makes an assumption about the relevance of revision of conciliarity conception.
