Цель данной статьи - выявление возможностей и оценка перспектив использования новейших систем искусственного интеллекта в преподавании иностранного языка. Рассмотрены дефиниции понятия «искусственный интеллект», история его развития, принципы работы, способы использования в сфере образования. Опираясь на положения о том, что цифровые технологии преобразуют социальные пространства и практики, рабочие места и характер деятельности людей, авторы показывают, что развитие и массовое распространение новых технологий в качестве средств учения и преподавания c неизбежностью влечет за собой преобразование деятельности субъектов учебного процесса высшей школы - преподавателей и студентов. Основное внимание сосредоточено на лингводидактическом потенциале систем, основанных на нейросетях, в аспекте их использования в профессиональной деятельности преподавателей английского языка в вузах технического профиля подготовки.
The purpose of this article is to reveal opportunities and evaluate prospects for using the latest artificial intelligence systems in teaching a foreign language. The definitions of the concept of “artificial intelligence”, the history of its development, principles of operation, and methods of use in the field of education are considered. Relying on the provisions that digital technologies transform social spaces and practices, workplaces and the nature of people’s activities, the authors have shown that the development and mass dissemination of new technologies as a means of learning and teaching inevitably entail the transformation of the activities of the subjects of the educational process of higher education - teachers and students. The main attention is focused on the linguodidactic potential of the systems based on neural networks in terms of their use in the professional activities of English language teachers at technical universities.
